It has been such a long miserable month, it’s no secret that I’m not a fan of January, it is such a big come down after the excitement of December. The weather is miserable and I have been extremely grumpy, I am desperate for February to come. However, we did have a little mini adventure at the weekend which did perk me up quite a bit.
Despite my feelings on January, here is what I have been loving:
Beauty
I got lots of new and much needed make up at Christmas so I have been using that. I got a new Nars multistick in anguila which is lovely but, if I am being honest, I think I need a bit of a darker colour. I also got the Smashbox #shapematters palette which I have heard such good stuff about – I have not had a chance to use it yet so hopefully by next months post I can give a full update on it.
Fashion
My lovely husband bought me the most beautiful shoes – I have been wearing them as much a I can which unfortunately hasn’t been much due to the icy cold weather.
I have also been wearing a new blouse that my bestie bought me which I love love love.
Home
I love Christmas decorations and twinkly lights but this year I was quite happy to take them all down. My house always looks so much bigger without them.
At the end of the year we finally got our living room wallpapered (well just one wall), we chose Erin in duck egg from Laura Ashley and it makes such a difference. My living room has never been my favourite room but the last few months we have been trying to make it a little more homely and I am finding myself wanting to spend more time in there.
I got some Yankee Candles this month, now I love candles but I have never really got caught up with the whole Yankee Candles phase – but now I am a convert, they are amazing, I got pink sands and they smell so good (I actually have them on right now.)
I have also been cheering myself up with some tulips and daffodils which I think are my favourite flowers, daffodils always bring a smile to my face.
Food
Nothing much to report on really, we have been making lots of pancakes – the girls are a little obsessed with them at the minute. I guess this month has been spent eating left over chocolate and Christmas treats.

Oh i just love Yankee Candles too, I have different scents for different rooms. I have duck egg in my living room and absolutely love it, we are just about to decorate but the duck egg is staying. I’m with you on January, not long to go now. A lovely post xx

I love the daffodils too. Is it me or are they coming out really early this year? And don’t get me started on scented candles! I had a Yankee candle wax melt burner for Christmas and it’s been going virtually every minute we’ve been in the house! And, big bonus, I still haven’t got through the first melt yet so it has to be a seriously thrifty option too! Win, win I say!
