A trip down memory lane

A trip down memory lane

It’s been a trip down memory lane for me this weekend – we spent a couple of days in Butlins.

Butlins holds so many memories as it was the place we visited as a child every year for our holidays. I loved it – the big roller coaster that I tried to get on every year but was always too small, the red coats who always seemed so glamorous and staying up late every night watching the family friendly entertainment. It was such a huge part of my childhood. My Sister suggested going a few months ago to celebrate my niece’s birthday so we thought why not – any excuse for an adventure.
Typically, Meme was a little poorly so was unable to fully enjoy it all but we did have a lovely time. It wasn’t quite as glamorous as it was when I was a child but I guess as an adult you see the not so shiny bits. However, let’s face it, through a child’s eyes, the place is amazing. The arcades, the funfair, staying in bunk beds in the hotel, the big swimming pool – the list is endless!! We really did have so much fun and no doubt the girls will be begging to go back next year.

How lovely are these girls – I love that they are all so close.

It wouldn’t be a holiday without some face paint.

  1. We went to Butlins a few weeks back and the kids LOVED it. They had such an amazing time. I used to love it too as a child so I am not surprised it was such a hit. You’re right, Butlins as an adult is not the same but watching the kids love it really makes up for it. Sorry your little one was poorly but its nice to hear you all still had a lovely time. Thank you for sharing this at #FamilyFun, hope you can come back next week xx

  2. Oh what a wonderful thing to do – I bet the girls loved it – gorgeous photos and so lovely of you to give them the same experience that you did as a child – really special #FamilyFun

  5. Aww, it looks like you had lots of fun! I’ve never been to Butlins, but it does sound like a great place to visit, with loads for the kids to do. Love your photos, the girls look so happy! Thanks so much for linking up to #Whatevertheweather (p.s. could you please pop the badge at the end of your post, thank you so much. :))

  6. Like many others here I’ve not been to Butlins, but I have seen some happy posts from there and you look like no exception. I can see why it would appeal to kids and all the more fun to do it in a group as you did. A lovely way to all meet up with plenty of active fun for the children.

Thank you for sharing your adventure weekend with me on #CountryKids

  7. Glad you had a good time despite Meme being a little poorly. See I think Butlins is better now – I don’t remember the swimming pools being quite so good when I was a kid. #countrykids

  8. I’ve found the same thing has happened when I revisit places an adult. that were my favourite places as a child. The important thing is that you’ve created memories for your girls.
